Whether you are using the Reading History unit with the American Revolution or Native Americans mentor topic, we recommend beginning and ending the unit with the assessment found on Heinemann.  It will give you an understanding of what your students have in their repertoire for comprehending grade-level text (including how they approach difficulty or unfamiliar material), how they transfer their knowledge from one unit to the next, and what you will want to teach into for your small group work.

Please reach out to your literacy coach for this work.  This is a great way to work together to support your students during this unit and on MCAS!
